Less than 2 months to the start of training camp in Eagan

Seems crazy that is the case but it will be here before we know it. I think the theme is continuity with a strategic plan and its all fallen into place as projected. Coach of the Year and both the HC and GM have signed contract extensions. A new highly drafted, talented QB that KOC gets to peel the plastic off of and mold into his ideal for the position. Offensive line and defensive line upgrades. The same schemes on the both sides of the football, the same message being presented by the same staff. Familiarity for the players. Consistency. Urgency to achieve and a culture developed in that regard. Rock solid ownership.

These are all hallmarks of what successful franchises aspire to. Fingers crossed this is a new era in Minnesota Viking's football. All the work for the new regime has led to this season and the seasons that follow with what is hopefully a franchise QB to be the lynchpin for consistent top level contention in the NFC and a new narrative. If you can crack the bonds of scar tissue that all of us long timers have, you can see what I'm talking about. Should be a very fun ride.

The only downside I see is that we are all similarly-minded. After two (out of three) double-digit unexpected win seasons, we can see the effects of intentional roster trimming and rebuilding through some skillful navigating of all four roster-building options: the Draft, Trades, FA and UDFA. We are collectively anticipating this season with dare I say...hope AND expectation?

I remember reading on this board during TC last year, "I have no expectations this year, I'll just watch and try to be entertained".

The difference is this year we look at a stacked roster, and we have expectations.

I don't know if that's a good thing for us (we're not allowed to have nice things, remember?) or if we can dare to have hope until September.

All right Sticky, stop it...

Lord knows time will fly as it is!

Last year was a blast till it wasn't. I dont expect 14 wins again, but I think our floor is in that 9/10 range (if the gods dont smite the franchise)

As Viking fans we're always waiting for the other shoe to drop. A rash of injuries, a key player we thought would be great but just doesn't work out for whatever reason. So most of us approach optimistically, but cautiously, afraid of getting our hearts chewed up and swallowed by the football gods who clearly hate us.

To hell with that. If our biggest question (obviously JJM) is what we think he is, is what KOC thinks he is, we're going to win a lot of games. We won 14 games last year with a stop-gap left tackle, a discount-store bridge QB, a mediocre IOL and a league average IDL. All have been improved significantly. It doesn't take a fistful of purple Zoloft to think this team should actually be better than it was last year.

And, no, being better does not necessarily mean winning more than 14 games.

Hey, it's the offseason...wandering towards summer...and let's face it, this is the time to enjoy a super-gonzo-gulp of Purple Kool-Aid, because there's all the time in the world for our well-oiled paranoia later. This is a time for enjoying the anticipation, which should be at a fever pitch right now; we have our young QB, new linemen, and a returning coaching staff to provide a combination of "shiny new" and "evolving foundation" to the mix!

ENJOY THE FUGGIN' VIEW THROUGH THE PURPLE SHADES!

We will be twitchy as hell in a couple of months: every update from camp, every hit in preseason, every bruise in practice, and definitely every impact in real games will have us in our usual growling, staring, gasping, cheering, snarling, and shouting frenzies. The confidence and the paranoia will be holding hands in our minds and hearts soon enough. Right now, let's just bask in what appears to be the results of some great efforts by everyone running our noisy purple longboat...!
Wishing a great season for the team, Especially Mundt and Kwenkeu! Big Grin

2024 off-season moves were solid, , meI thinks  2025  will be even better.

It's on paper but it's gotten way harder to poke holes in the Vikings roster.

Sept-Nov dont worry me (too much)...

Its that Dec/Jan stretch that's so damn daunting in the NFL.
