2025 was always going to be the year we blew open the door. We saw that cap space coming two years ago. Only difference is that we thought we might have a starting QB with a few games under his belt by now. But might it be better that JJ had a full year to learn the offense outside of the spotlight? Maybe.
We also got a little lucky. I don't remember a player in this year's free agency like Wilkins from last year—a player we tried to sign but failed to. Players who fill a need, fit what you do, AND want to come play for you are rare. We signed Jonathan Allen 4 days after he was released by the Commies. We signed Hargrave the same day he was released by the 49ers. Our new center came with Fries. That shit doesn't always happen. So the stars aligned for us a little bit.
