Chiefs Joe Thuney to Bears for a 4th round pick
#1
Bears also traded yesterday for Rams OL Jonah Jackson for a 2025 6th round pick. Jackson will cost the Bears $14.6m. He's under contract for 2025 and 2026.

Thuney has a $15.5m salary for 2025. It appears Thuney will be a free agent after 2025. The 4th rounder paid is in the 2026 draft.

I think Trey Smith being franchised and the lack of quality lineman in free agency have led to this. Trading is the way to upgrade the offensive line. Unfortunately for the Vikings, we don't have the draft picks unless we are trading future selections.

I guess that's how the Chiefs can afford Trey Smith. This also means the Bears won't be keeping Teven Jenkins. He's had a series of injuries, but when healthy he's been pretty good.

Nice move by Veech. Giving up a player a year early is always better than a year late. Replacement already on the roster. Thueny will turn 33 in November. Pole playing checkers.
