When is the roster set for gameday?
#1
My question is about Daniel Jones, really.

How long do the Vikings have to announce their active roster for game day?
Would he be moved to the Active Roster (53) or does he have to be one of the 48 to dress?
Does the new rule about allowing teams to have a 3rd QB active on game days impact his roster spot counting?

I don't really care if he plays or not, I want that compensatory draft pick not if, but when, he signs elsewhere.

I don't think there's any doubt they activate him for the Detroit game. 100%.

I don't know about the 3rd QB rule, but I'm pretty sure teams don't have to announce their active rosters until about 90 minutes before kickoff.

I agree with this...I dont know if he moves-up past Mullens on the depth chart this season though. Might be QB3?

Dimes might be a major reason if Darnold ends-up leaving too...

I would feel more comfortable in the playoffs with Jones than Mullins if something happens to Darnold.

You might be right...Just depends on how acclimated to the players/playbook he is.

Mullins is ok for a series or 2, guy is a gunslinger - but not a starter.

We will see the first game in the playoffs. I have a feeling he will be QB 2

They don't make the final roster available until just before game time. They'll have to waive someone prior (likely Rypien..to head to PS assuming he clears waivers). My guess is they elevate Jones on Sunday but make him inactive with the emergency QB designation. If they feel good about his knowledge of the playbook, there's a chance that they'll keep Jones active and make someone else inactive. Sounds like the team is pretty healthy so I could see that happening. The waiver wire on Saturday will be the indicator of whether they're elevating Jones.

I've heard that activating Jones before the season ends makes him eligible for comp pick calcs so they will do it.
