Yeah, that's my point and I agree with you. Last night's performance did nothing to change my opinion on Purdy, only solidified it. Not saying he sucks, but this can't be a $55+ million a year contract.

He will get more, but i would offer 37 to 42 a year, lower money but with more guaranteed % than some others would see on the higher dollar deals. I just dont see the upside to overpaying just to check a box like teams have been doing, hell Cousins was a perfect example, jones in NY, prescott, and many others, hell most others.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Not excusing Purdy's play, but he's banged up... It was raining and he entire first half and it clearly affected him AND Stafford who was absolutely brutal as well. Deebo dropped a perfectly thrown pass in the first half that would have been a TD...

If Deebo catches that pass, SF might get a little momentum and who knows what happens after that. Instead they kick a FG and end up losing by 6 in a game where neither team scored an offensive TD.

I think Purdy is a good QB. Not sure he'll ever be elite, but he's won a lot of games, fits the 49ers offense, and has the mobility to extend plays and pick up yards with his legs. SF will keep him.

Dude laid a massive egg last night at home with their backs against the wall and the season on the line. That's not gonna sit well with their fans but like MG just said, really tough circumstances. I think SF will keep him as well.

Carr is making $38M/yr. Purdy's floor is going to be $40M. Will he be worth that? Ehh... I'd have more confidence giving Darnold that money than Purdy I think. Interesting debate.
