Raise your hand again if you believe in Darnold

Thanks for posting this. I think what got lost in all the McCarthy hype was just how well Darnold played. I was very impressed. It's a shame he followed that up with what I've heard was not a very good week in Cleveland. But I think that's what we should probably expect from Sammy D:  inconsistency. At least at first.

The script is different, as the expectations are different. Sam is a veteran, now the starter beyond argument, and what they'll want to see from him will have different priorities than what they know they'll be getting from the others who'll be playing against backups, and jostling for roster position.

I don't know that it translates at this level, but when I used to play in sports and in rehearsals for various performances, I always said "get the mistakes out of the way before the real thing".

Similarly, we've seen offseasons where defense crushed the offense most of the way, because it had fewer fundamental changes in scheme/personnel whereas we were changing OCs every year and/or major skill players. Last week, a damned good defense got to see Sam and the rest of our offense for days straight...they were gonna learn tendencies.

Addison's ankle (and presumed suspension) worries me more.
LET'S WREAK SOME FUGGIN' HAVOK, VIKINGS!!! SKOL!!!

Take care of the King on Deck, KOC!

“Nobody is more bummed out about J.J.’s situation than J.J. himself, just because he loves being with his teammates,” O’Connell said. “We’re going to get him back with the group as quickly as possible. It’ll be great to get home and see him post-op. I’m sure he’ll be at the facility day and night already, in meetings and everything. We’re going to really try to craft a plan for J.J. that allows him to not miss a beat from mental preparation and the standpoint of going through game plans throughout the season. Really starting to envision what that looks like for him as he kind of watches Sam go about it in year one of the system as well.”
 - Kevin O'Connell, after traveling to Cleveland and missing his baby boy, which he said, 'I love with all my heart' and broke down in tears. After composing himself, he FaceTimed with McCarthy and seemed to be in better spirits. - PFT.com
