In the Atl. & NO games we saw Dobbs roll out. We saw him run when the protection broke down & I thought to myself that we're seeing a preview of the type of QB that KOC wants to draft to run his offense.
But in the last 2 games we saw Dobbs stay in the pocket. Even when the protection broke down he was trying to find an open receiver & he hardly ran at all even though there were opportunities.
Between what we've seen against Den. & Chi. & the rumors that they want Kirko back, I'm thinking that our next QBOTF will be primarily a pocket passer.
Agree. I think the ideal would be a pocket passer who has a good amount of mobility and escapability. JJ McCarthy is a good example. Definitely a pro style pocket passer first, but he can really move in the pocket and run if necessary.

I think what KOC did with Dobbs is what every coach eventually tries to do with young QBs. It's like "OK, you were successful playing backyard QB, now it's time to see if you can run my offense." I think that's what happened with other QBs who started well only to later falter. RGIII, Mac Jones, Trubisky, Mayfield, etc.

I don't care if the QB is a pocket passer or a mobile QB. I take pause with primarily a running QB because the risk of injury and a potential short career.
Just give me a QB with innate accuracy, a fast processor, and a strong will to win. Then give him good protection and a run game while he is learning. It's a rare thing to find and in most cases asking too much. But that's what I saw in a lot of the great QB's.

8 Starters on offense who are first or second round picks.(with Jefferson) And they are still not a top scoring unit even before Kirko got hurt. The defense has one 1st rounder old man Harrison smith and a bunch of 3rd and lower even a few FA. Which end is holding up?
Unreal what Flores could do with some talent infusion.

Well, here is a tough situation to be in.  We know Flores is most likely gone to a HC position at the end of the season.   If we don't show a sign of improvement, do you can KoC for him?

Now I'm not suggesting that is the answer, but like you said we have seen what KoC can do with a lot of pieces in place.  You can also see what Flores has done with little to nothing.  That is a stretch, but you know what I'm saying.

The NFC is doing its best to keep Minnesota very viable in the playoff race....now back to #6 seed with Seattle's loss. The loss to the Bears is just so f-ing brutal on so many levels. Whatever, it's done.

JMO, but I'll be shocked if Dobbs is named the starter against the Raiders. I think it's going to be Mullens for sure.

Yes, it's probably going to be Mullens. KOC traded for him specifically to backup Cousins last year. They then gave him a two-year extension in March of this year. He's been in the offense for two years, and if he were healthy when Cousins went down, it would've been him going in instead of Hall and we never would've even traded for Dobbs.

I'd love to see Hall, just to see what he can do. But Mullens is probably our best chance to win.

Now that teams have game tape and time to prepare for Dobbs, they've adjusted how they are playing against him. Chicago did a good job of taking away the outside escape runs and forced him to make plays under pressure with his arm rather than his feet. When they kept Dobbs in the pocket and forced him to throw under duress, then he was much more likely to make bad plays.

One area of growth that I saw, is that they started attacking downfield with Dobbs. He's certainly not Cousins when it comes to deep passes, but he's got enough arm to push the ball downfield. With Jefferson coming back, matchups should become a lot more favorable, but the big question is how will they counter teams taking away the scrambling lanes?

I don't think Dobbs gets benched yet, but he needs a much stronger performance against the Raiders. Otherwise Mullens or Hall will get their shot.

Reportedly trending towards Dobbs starting again next week in Vegas. I don't agree with that decision (if that is the decision) but I'm imagining as long as we are in the playoff race they'll start Dobbs over turning things over to an untested rookie. The bottom line is when Cousins went down, so did our season....so it's all semantics, but I really would love to get a good look at Hall in games that matter with a full cast of starters. I already know what Dobbs is

You are exactly right, DC's have the book on how to win vs Dobbs. That didnt take long.

He's really regressed as he's gotten deeper in the playbook. My $ is on Mullens vs Las Vegas.

Still doesnt feel right;  Las Vegas Raiders.
