Dare I say it

But is Greg Joseph Mr. "Mankato"?

I don't think so. He's already a proven kicker who's having a real good camp. Completely different than some unproven being talked up by everyone.

Nah, Mr. Mankato is some unknown dude who looks good in camp, gets overhyped by Viking Twitter Nation and then gets cut or sits on the practice squad for a year and then gets cut. See Kyle Sloter.

Although, to your point, its changed in the last 5-6 years and now its moved toward who's had great camps without proving it in the regular season, even if they end up playing well later (Diggs, etc.). The kids today have taken it out of context of what it used to be about.

They have forgotten the man, the myth, the legend, Kyries Hebert.   Mores the pity.

Yes, Hebert was the ultimate, quintessential "Mr. Mankato." I don't see that for Joseph. His history, his background, last year's performance, this year in camp, all seem to suggest we may have finally found our long-term answer at kicker.

Well, things just got better on two fronts, Kyle Sloter is back on the market.  Mr. Mankato and QB 2 in a single package.
