Well, last year what was the plan if Reiff walked? My guess was either start Hill or move O'Neill. Remember, Cleveland was not in hand at that point. They must have a scenario or two they are comfortable with.

I guess it depends on what they decide to do with Cleveland. If that plan is to move him to LT, then I think AVT is the guy if they have him rated higher. I did a quick arm length check and Cleveland measures in at 33 3/8" vs. AVT's puny 32 1/8". Darrisaw blows them both away at 34 1/2". I hate to use arm length as an indicator of success, but here is an interesting article I found at SB Nation that really dives into the topic.

A lot of teams use 33 inches as the minimum threshold for their tackles. Don't know if the Vikings are one of those teams.

I don't know if the Vikings intend to move Cleveland to tackle, or if they'll let the draft determine that. I sort of sense that the Vikings would prefer to keep Cleveland at guard because of how good he his at pulling out and getting in front of screens. Vikings ask their guards to do that more than their tackles. But i have nothing really to base that on.

If the Vikings intend to move Cleveland to LT and have always intended that, then who they draft narrows right down.

I don't see the Chargers passing on Darrisaw at 13. They desperately need a starting LT to protect their young QB. They could wait and grab one in Round 2, but that would be a risky decision. You could be left with taking prospects like Radunz, Brown, Little as the leftover options with where they pick in the 2nd round. Assuming it plays out that way, then AVT is my pick. The wildcard in all this is Phillips and where the Vikings have him ranked after factoring in his injury/concussion concerns.

As MB pointed-out in another thread, if they feel good about Phillips? We'd have to trust em on it and that Sugarman bought off on the evaluation too.

That and Fischer in FA?

Parsons has really slipped, i finally looked at some of his stuff and he was flashy as hell but off and on. Charachter concerns but if the light turns on for him he will be a star.

If Trey Lance slides to 14, you turn your card in immediately. There should be no other player chosen if it fell like this.

the later part of the first round. I
think he’s got the body type you’d like, but he’s a loafer. He reminds me of Kalil. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him
go earlier as there’s just a big lack of players with the length teams like, so
if they NEED a tackle, their options are more limited.

That's it right there. Geoff stated that several teams have dropped him out of the first round due to the lack of medical information available from his management team. With the Covid restrictions, nobody has gotten a chance to peak under the hood to see if there are still concerns with his issues. To me, the AVT pick just makes too much sense if Darrisaw is gone. We have plenty of draft picks in the 3rd and 4th round to take an Edge rusher we can develop. Most of us, including me, thought the Wonnum pick was a reach but clearly Patterson saw something he could mold.

It wouldn't be raining kitten parts in my house if we drafted Lance. Can't imagine that happening though. Can't imagine Lance going any lower than 5 or 6. Upside is just too high. It's worth the risk. Bears, Patriots....somebody will move up for him.

Parsons has been my pick for most likely to bust for several weeks. Sucks too because it would help us if he went in the top 13. Lions would be a good spot.
