JEFF GLADNEY GROWING INTO QUALITY CB FOR VIKINGS
#1
Antoine Winfield 2.0?

On the week of the 2020 NFL Draft, we had a pretty good idea of who the top two cornerbacks off the board were going to be. Jeff Okudah and C.J. Henderson had been the talk of the class since the NFL Scouting Combine, and no matter how early each went and in what order they were selected, it was a safe bet to have them as the top two.But there was plenty of uncertainty after that. The uncertainty didn’t come from a lack of talent, but rather what the preference of each team would be as the rest of the cornerback group came off the board. As we now know, A.J. Terrell ended up being CB3, followed by Damon Arnette. Those two plus Okudah and Henderson made it four corners in the top 20. There was a bit of a gap between Arnette and the next cornerback selected, Noah Igbinoghene, at No. 30, and then the final cornerback in the first round was Jeff Gladney one pick later.
Six cornerbacks in the first round is a lot, and playing cornerback in the NFL as a rookie can be one of the hardest jobs outside of the quarterback position. Here we are a little more than halfway through the season and the sixth corner selected of that bunch is starting to show why he could have been picked even higher.

It's early, but Jefferson, Gladney, Cleveland, and Dantzler all looking like solid picks so far. Wonnum contributing. Dye starting over veterans Connelly and Nickerson is a good sign.

An opportunity to redraft based on hindsight and the Viking first 5 picks are exactly who they picked.

Interesting read. I've unplugged from the draft in recent years but this looks to be panning out.

very good draft Rick did it again.  If we can just get the QB settled we have a young talented team!

Even guys like Hand and Metellus are contributing and while he's not a rookie, it's been nice to see Mata'afa turning into a solid role player. I definitely feel a lot better about the roster going forward and it's nice to see the coaches and scouts earning their paychecks.
