Cool article RE: changes

https://vikingsterritory.com/2020/general-news/zimmer-non-committal-as-to-whether-hell-call-defensive-plays-in-2020

Reading this article makes me hopeful for 2 very important aspects going forward.

1- When talking about Kubes changes he alludes to the passing game. This is very exciting to turn this loose. Kubes passing game features TE’s and we have excellent depth there.  If he allows Kubes to throw to the middle of the field this O will hum.

2- Z alludes to letting his DC’s potentially make the calls in game, this will free Z to focus on more head in the entire game stuff which is needed.

Just some hopeful inferences on our part. It takes so many things going right to win in this league, these both would help.

Interesting what Zimmer says about the passing game. That while the run game terminology will not change, he expects there to be some changes to the passing game.

I'm hoping this means they're going to focus on how to draw up some better pass protections. I keep thinking of the 49ers interior, where they have an undrafted backup center in Ben Garland, a 7th round journeyman in Mike Person who was released by 7 teams in 8 years prior to coming to the 49ers. And Laken Tomlinson, a 1st round bust in Detroit who was traded to the 49ers for a 5th round draft pick two years later.

I don't care how you look at it, this is NOT a talented interior line, but the 49ers somehow got them to pass protect pretty well and play like All Pros in the run game.
