Totally agree.  Rick wants more picks so he doesn’t have to compete on the UDFA@MaroonBells said:

Rick rarely trades up on d-day, he trades down and DOMINATES THE 7th ROUND!!! B)
I know everyone complains when we trade down for 7th rounders. But after hitting on Bisi, Odenigbo, Kearse, Weatherly, and Stephen in the 7th round, it might be time to stop.
Plus, it helps you with UDFA as you can get them on a rookie pay scale and you don't have to get into a bidding war. Especially with a team that has to save cap. Trade down and that is how you save money as well. Just a thought on my part and you can tell me I am wrong. It's cool.  market for guys that he likes.  If there’s
a guy you want, you don’t have to worry about him just liking a different town
or team better.  You don’t have to worry
about another team just paying more.  You
just pick your guy and he’s yours.  Then
when its time to go get those UDFAs your list of needs you need to fill is a
little bit smaller and you can focus on them more.

You have to fill camp up. Why not fill it with another 3-5 guys that you truly like and have on your board. I think its a smarter way to go, especially with a roster like we had last year that didn't have a ton of holes to fill. We were in a win now mode and that allowed us to trade down, to not only save money, but to get guys we like with even grades like Maroon said. We don't have to worry about losing a guy because he wants to be in Florida or play with his buddy. Or that the Lions offered more money and he goes there.@Canthony said:
