What exactly is the issue pairing Zimmer with a different GM?
If you gave Spielman 11 picks to field an offense, and let Zimmer select 11 guys from a UDFA workout to field an opposing defense, I bet the offense wouldn't move the ball. Personally, I think it's the "wrinkle" that the product on the field needs. I won't deny that Spielman has had some great moves - I just think he's the roadblock holding us back on the field.
Our tool box is constantly missing the same tools needed to get the job done. We need a phillips screwdriver: we convince ourselves that Menards just sells a bunch of junk so don't buy one. Our tool box doesn't get filled with what we need. We break out the $200 orbital sanders and watch it sand the shit out of things like "hey, our tools are awesome STFU!" - then we need that god damn Phillips screw driver again!
we keep talking about all the other tools and how great the guy filling the tool box up is, we can acknowledge that the operator doesn't exactly have all of the tools he needs and that he generally does a good job with the ones he has - why are we going to fire the operator for not using a drill to remove the screw? ... just get a phillips screwdriver!
(... that's a way overly simple analogy, but from a personal standpoint of not being able to find a Phillips screw driver right now, it seems fitting! hypocritically, I'm proooobably gonna blame the kids :p )
