Parent brag thread - time to change the subject and cheer up
#1
Lots to be thankful for this year.

Oldest son will graduate from college in the spring, has a job offer signed and will be employed in the music tech industry doing what he is good at and loves.

Another son is married to a great gal, and we may be, possibly, be on the way to being grandparents.

Freshman son went undefeated in football this year, had 14.5 sacks and the team has good character to go with talent.  He also decided to try basketball this year and is a very solid defender and great rebounder.  With him never having played organized bball, I am very proud of his knowledge of the game.
My younger daughter's team went undefeated in park and rec 6-8th grade.  She is small, but quick and fiercely competitive.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas with plenty of love surrounding them.

My daughter finished the semester with a 4.0 in upper level psychology courses - one semester left before she plans on her doctorate.

My son finished his first semester at the naval academy with a 3.85.  Going to declare Chemistry as his major and go to medical school after he finishes.  Wants to become a doctor and work with NASA to go to space and provide medical services to astronauts.
Very proud of my children.

I've mentioned my son in parent brag posts before, but my future daughter-in-law (they aren't officially engaged but its coming...they've been together almost 5 years now) is just a great girl. My wife and I love her to death. Tall and a natural beauty, she's found her path professionally. She's the program director for a non-profit mental wellness advocacy group in Denver. She just finished going back to school to get her B.A. in Psychology. I couldn't be more proud of her if she were my own daughter.

many may know we moved to Maui in July, but I still work on the mainland until I can formally retire...if all goes well in June. 30 years teaching / coaching.

My sons Pop Warner unlimited team (Kahului Warriors) went 8-1-1, league champion, then beat Hanapepe, Kauai in the Turkey Bowl.  He has made better friends here in these six months, then he ever had in 13 years in California.  All those rumors about the “locals” not accepting Haole, was just the opposite. One of his best friends uncle (REAL UNCLE - yeah, EVERYONE in Hawaii is called Auntie / Uncle) is Hercules Mata’afa, and actually Toa and Kyle face timed with Hercules a few weeks ago. Toa’s little brother is Kyles biggest fan, and always goes up for a sweaty hug after each game. And the girls have all been in hot pursuit.

Our Daughter just finished first semester at UH Maui with straight A’s.  She wants to be
a counselor / psychologist for abused, neglected, kids.  She is turning into my mom who worked at Childhelp USA, and was a social worker for years. She works at Ululanis shave ice, and puts darn near everything she makes into savings.

I get back during the breaks, try and take care of the “honey-do” list. Just enjoying the new culture, lack of traffic & concrete, beaches, trade winds, and ten minute rain showers.

Merry Christmas Vikefans, wherever you call home
