I totally get why he is doing it. He is getting ready for the draft. It definitely takes away from the Bowl game though.

There's so many bowl games any more that the shine has come off of being in a game. Can you imagine a starting QB skipping the Rose Bowl back in the day.

Iowa's Noah Fant is also backstabbing his teammates by skipping the Outback Bowl. That's 2 games already decided 3 weeks before they're played.

Not to downplay Fant's talent, but I doubt his absence will be the difference in the Outback Bowl. Especially when the Hawkeyes will still field the best TE in college football.
