define local and over the air
Watch HD channels over the air with this Antennas Direct ClearStream 4MAX antenna. It receives TV signals from over 70 miles away, and its UHF and VHF configurations provide optimal reception without having to aim it. This Antennas Direct ClearStream 4MAX antenna includes a 20-inch mount and base stand for indoor or outdoor installation.

I have two TVs that we had connected to the DirecTV dish.  There was a splitter, which they installed.  Apparently, that splitter controlled the wavelength allowed.  I just went to Best Buy (locally) and got a standard TV splitter to replace it with.
This is the antenna that my internet guy recommended...it has an estimated range of 70 miles (from the transmitter towers).  I've had over-the-air antennas before, but this is a huge improvement.  I bet  you could pull in a transmitter signal from Blackduck, MN.

Does this help?

Went out and bought the same antenna per your recommendation. First time I've had TV without streaming in about 5 years. Thanks Montana.
Got it all hooked up in time for half time. Sat down to eat lunch and watch the second half and CBS switches to a "more competitive game" SMDH.
