NFL Network @nflnetwork:

"I expect them to try to build around Justin Fields."
@RapSheet does not expect the Jets to draft a QB with the 7th pick.

They might get tempted if Sanders drops to 7

I think Fields was a good signing for them. They already burned bridges on the two "premiere" veteran options, so their options weren't great. Low cost. Maybe he figures stuff out a little better? Doesn't really inhibit them from drafting a guy. If they can't get a guy they like this year, it probably helps with a soft tank.

In zero realities are they rebuilding around Fields as a Plan A. Maybe they hate all the QBs in the draft and are just rebuilding, but it's not around Fields as a preferred candidate.

It's the Jets, do you really have be surprised?

I think this speaks more to the QBs available to them in this draft and only Sanders "might" be worth using the #7 pick on.

All this discussion about Purdy and Justin Fields and all the rest...
...we've definitely had QB issues in the past. But by mid-season last year, we had a very full QB room with Darnold, Dimes, Mullens, even Rypien and JJM.
With a red-shirt year to absorb the mental aspects of KOC's offense, I'd still much rather be in our shoes today than wondering...who/how/what are we going to do at the most important position in the game.

Pittsburgh, Jets and more...wondering what the plan is going to be. The puzzle pieces have not been full assembled for these guys yet.
We're in a comparatively good spot.
Feels good...for a change.

Good time to be grateful for what we have. History of Jets 1st and 2nd round QBs: Zach Wilson, Sam Darnold (before he was good), Christian Hackenberg, Geno Smith (before he was good), Mark Sanchize, Kellen Clemens, Chad Pennington, Browning Nagle...

I'm curious, why did the Jets trade with us last year? They had the 10th pick and could've told us to piss off and took JJ McCarthy at 10.

I think they were still on the rogers/morphine iv drip at the time.

Never underestimate the power of a meddlesome owner.
