Jameson Williams WR Lions
#1
Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was already off to a rough start at training camp, and it may have gotten even worse on Monday after he threw a punch at a rookie teammate.
Reporter Ayre Pulli noted on Twitter that Williams took a swing at cornerback Starling Thomas IV after the rookie broke up a pass intended for him.
Quote:
Kyle Meinke, Lions beat reporter for MLive.com, noted that Williams had a difficult day all around during the first day of padded practices.
“Rough start for Jameson Williams in his first padded practice of the summer,” Meinke tweeted. “Dropped two balls against air, then went 0-3 during red zone one-on-ones and took a swat at the head of UDFA Starling Thomas.”
Williams has endured a troubled start to his career, missing the majority of his rookie season while recovering from a torn ACL and being forced to miss the first six games of the upcoming season after being hit with a gambling suspension. Monday’s incident led to more criticism, though it was unclear if he would face any discipline with the team.

Williams definitely appears to be a real head case, glad he's not a Viking.

The Lions look like a team ready to dominate in a year or two. Their roster is stacked....with young unproven players.

People just assumed that players like Williams, taken with our former pick at 12, was going to be a superstar for them. It's too early, but right now he's trending much more toward bust than superstar. Even when he was healthy last year, he couldn't get on the field. His coach was disappointed that it wasn't "clicking for him" as quickly as he'd hoped. There's still hope obviously, but it sounds like it's not getting much better.

Good mark for KAM on the trade that had so many people losing their minds.  While we're still waiting on Cine ()and Booth Jr) to give the team returns on their picks from last year, I'm admittedly going to enjoy watching the trendy shine wear off of the Lions as they fail to live up to expectations...again.

As bad as our "curse" is, theirs is truly awful.  Remember that slew of top-3 WRs taken, year after year?  Did them no good.  Stafford could have good games, but he didn't have a good season until he was a Ram.  Megatron was undeniably wasted there.

All the pundits picking them over us need some well-prepared crow.

Regardless of what happens with jameson, it was not enough compensation to make that trade.

Agree. Of the dozen or so big decisions Kwesi has made, this one was the worst. No problem trading down with Jameson on the board. No problem with who we took. It's just the comp seemed so low compared to other draft day trades of similar distance.

I think he's done well with everything else though. The coach, the culture, the cuts, the contracts. I like what he's doing. Now, can he get us our QBOTF? Right or wrong, that will probably be what defines his career as Vikings GM.
