I love our draft and don't want to beat a dead horse cuz it's time for this thread to fade quietly into the night, but I would nudge some of you to look around the league at what other top teams are doing.
Chiefs- took Mahomes when they had a pretty solid Alex Smith
Ravens- took Lamar Jackson when they had a washed up Joe Flacco (ok bad example)
Saints- signed Teddy last year, Jameis this year
Packers- Traded for Kizer, now drafted J Love
Eagles- Hung on to Foles, now got Hurts
Patriots- Garapollo, Brissett, and now might be tanking for Lawrence, or will sign Newton
What do these teams have in common? They're good.
Green Bay had a weird, way-too-forward-thinking draft this year. I get that. It's funny. But that doesn't mean having a backup QB who can actually maybe kinda sorta play or has some aspirations to be more than a clipboard holder someday is a bad thing. A cost controlled rookie? Even better! If the Vikings don't want to spend capital to draft a franchise guy, they should at least be hunting in the middle rounds for someone who's better than Mannion. And who knows, they might actually stumble onto a franchise guy.
I'll put a pin in this chatter until next offseason! For now it's onto 2020 with what we got.
