Seriously?

Congrats to Rhodes, but a pro bowl for his 2019 performance doesn't make sense.

Meh I understand the harsh criticism for him this year but I am of the mind that the defense (especially the secondary) has been exposed systematically for a while now. Like think second half of NFCCG agains New Orleans. Ever since that game the defense especially through the air has been suspect.

I disagree and I just don't see the stats to back up your argument.  I think there were no questions that Rhodes had a pretty awful year this season.  And it seems that he is very unstable mentally as well, so once he gets beat, he throws a fit and starts yelling at teammates, coaches, etc.  I trust Zimmer's judgement on whether or not Rhodes can be salvaged after the season that he just had.

Passing defense rank by year:

2011: 26th
2012: 24th
2013: 31st

Zimmer arrives

2014: 7th
2015: 12th
2016: 3rd
2017: 2nd
2018: 3rd
2019: 15th

We took a step back this year, but Zimmer's defenses have been VASTLY improved over what we had experienced over the previous 15 years before he arrived.  Zimmer's defenses have been top 3 in passing defense half the time he's been here and I would argue that the step back this year was in large part due to Rhodes's terrible play, as well as a multitude of injuries at the position.

Zimmer has a lot longer proven track record than does Rhodes.  Plus, even though we were 15th in passing defense this year, we were still tied for 5th in scoring defense, so I don't see Zimmer as having been figured out at all.
