One thing that isn't noted in the struggle to get a running game going was the field.  Notoriously slow, I think the field was a big culprit in our inability to run.  Think of what Dalvin does so well.  He accelerates through the small openings.  Read somewhere that against Oakland he hit 15 mph on a majority of his runs.  That is insane.  He hits the hole so fast, defenses aren't able to get off the blocks to stop him.  But a slow field took away that advantage and Chicago was ready for the run.  He rarely got to the second level and didn't have a chance to showcase his speed.
