Defense lost this game in the first half.

Which side of the ball has the most Draft Capital? Which side has most of its Starters signed to long-term deals? What is the HC an alleged guru of?

The answer is Defense.

Zimmer doesn't even want an Offense that's built to overcome large deficits and every single one of you knows that.

For his Defense to look so poor in the 1st Quarter is a real head-scratcher.  Kudos to them for getting it together after that, but Mike wants a ground-oriented, clock-chewing Offense and he'd be the first to tell you it was his Defense that got rolled early that doomed this game.

It didn't doom the game. And a football game is 4 quarters long, right? Not only could Minnesota have overcame the 21 point deficit, they should have won this game by 10 points. Take a look at Green Bay's drive chart from the 2nd quarter on, its a list of having their asses handed to them by Minnesota's defense. Vikings had PLENTY of time to take the lead in this game in the 4th quarter, several times in fact. The Packer D was slow to get back to the huddle in the 4th and their 'want to' went Bub-bye, you could see it. That's what the run game did to them.

Vikings had a TD taken off the board, missed a FG and had an extra point blocked. Penalties up the ass, 3 of them these ridiculous OPIs. Cousins fumbles. Drops by Diggs. And this was easily winnable even after all that shit.

Where to start...

1) We actually did dig ourselves out of a 21 point deficit by running the ball and using play-action to get some big pass plays.  The offense Zimmer wants to run IS capable of coming back from deficits...  unless our highly paid QB screws it up.  It should be noted that Zimmer made some adjustments to what Green Bay was doing and pitched a shutout after the Packers went up 21-0 early in the 2nd quarter.

2) Since Zimmer has been head coach we've used a first round pick or had our first pick in the draft be an offensive player (Teddy, Dalvin, Treadwell, and Bradbury) in 4 out of the 6 drafts he's been involved in.  In the 2019 draft, we actually used our first 4 picks on offensive players...  We also spent a 2nd on O'Neill and a 3rd on Elflein.

3) Looking at our current roster, we actually have 4 offensive players within the top 10 highest cap hits on the team.  Hardly unbalanced...  our last two big extensions were actually offensive players...  Diggs and Thielen.

Sometimes I think people like to bag on Zimmer for things that are out of his control.  I'm sure he lobbies for all of his players to get paid...  not just the defensive players.  You don't think he wanted Thielen to get his money?  Or Diggs?  Or to keep a team leader in Rudy?  You know Spielman has to do something...  it's not just Zimmer calling all the shots in the draft or figuring out what FAs to sign and which of our own FAs we keep or let go...

The game was not doomed. Cousins makes a play in the red zone that a college sophomore typically makes, we come out with the W...
