As the roster gets better, the Vikings will release better players. Also, they've invested heavily in keeping their stars, so they need to balance that out by trying to develop cheap and younger players. It sucks in the short term, because they let go of older players who can still play, but ideally the players they keep like Hill and Weatherly can make a bigger impact over the next couple seasons than Newman or Robison could have made with one more year.

I'm pretty surprised that they cut Edison.  I thought he looked good (at least at the point of attack).
