Both of these guys deserve to get PAID.  Ideally, the team and players can work out a contract that pays them in the top 5 at their position, but doesn't reset the market by making them the highest paid player.  The Vikings could guarantee more money in base salary, signing bonus, etc. in the first 3 years to make the AAV the top at their position, but keep their cap number manageable over the life of the contract.
Spielman and Brez are going to be busy boys over the next couple weeks.  I have to assume they want to get at least one more deal done before the start of training camp.

OK,  my take.... if Diggs agent insists on top dollar... then there needs to be some incentives based on availability built into the deal.   if he cant play he shouldnt get paid as much.

as far as the whole deal with all involved... Wet is right,  Brez will make this work,  but IMO it will be a gamble,  odds are pretty good we will get saddled with some contracts that are still carrying guaranteed money in the later years and that those players will not still be playing up to that level... but its a risk worth taking IMO and I am not usually one to risk the future for a hamburger today.

Not my money. Spend away.
I would just love to hold a check with that many 0's.
If it was me I would make them give me one of those big ones like on Publisher's Clearing House.
That way everyone from 100 feet away could see how many 0's I'm worth.

i  think very few fans really care how much any certain player makes in relation to the rest of the world or what ever,  but when most of us talk about a player should only make "X" or the contract should be as such,  we are talking about the impact that said salary, contract, etc has on our teams cap and the ability to build a better team or retain other quality players... hell I wish everybody was millionaires and nobody had to worry about money for anything they wanted... unfortunately life dont work that way... no matter what some politicians want people to think.  B)

Yeah I get it. Got to stay within the budget thingies. You're right it's nothing like how the federal government does business. If you or I just print more money when we run out it's illegal and baaad. They can do it making everyone of those in my pocket worth less and it's good.
Just trying to be a smart@$$. I'll try to stop dumbing down the board with my sarcasm. It will be tough though.

nah bro... let it fly.   we always have those that think, when we talk about players salaries,  that we are pissy about how much player X makes....the only time I get really pissy about salaries are when the team screws over a great player making less in his twilight years,  in the name of handing money to some younger players or free agents... like they did with BRob this year after renegotiating him last season.  I think we could have found that couple million some where else or at least guaranteed it.... its not like BRob isnt going to be one of the better DLinemen we have on the roster and not deserving of a roster spot.

Wish there were more guys like BRob. He found a home, a community and is loved for it. Some people it's really not about money. Then the people who are about the money smell this and screw them. I agree there could of been other ways to save a few bucks then that guy.
