Paton must be making big bucks now...

I can't believe the Viking's have held on to him this long. He's been rumored for so many positions with other teams the last 3 years. I think he's a highly valued resource they want to keep and ultimately replace Spielman with at some point. I'm certain they keep bumping his pay.

I want Paton to be the Vikings GM. I am not against Rick at all but have always thought Paton will make a great GM.

Wow...this guy gets mentioned for every other GM position... Either the Wilfs already have a deal in place for Paton to eventually take over for Spielman, he's got serious ties to the area, or he just doesn't want to climb the ladder...

Being a GM would be an entirely different role for Paton. By staying with the Vikings he can continue to focus on scouting, roster construction, and player development on a day to day basis. Once you move into the GM's chair you also need to worry about the business side of things which is foreign to a lot of hardcore football minds.
