Haven't seen this posted here but it's a very interesting read.  Pulled the link from another forum.

Didn't read the article before posting, but what I heard years ago was it was fashioned after the UCLA Bruins uniforms (not the logo, of course).

Very cool article. Had no clue of the UW roots. The V's on the sleeve literally look like something you'd see on a modern uniform. 

It would be pretty cool if the team used these as alternate "tribute" uniforms.
