I wonder if Minneapolis wants a Home Team Super Bowl

IMO it would only add to the number of people.  Viking fans from the rest of the country would travel in droves.  All the normal SB attendees would still be there.  And pretty much all of Minnesota would be there.  Doubt they would have a profit issue.
why would fans flock to minneapolis because the Vikings are in the SB if they didnt have a ticket anymore than any other teams fans would that didnt have a ticket?   If i was going to go to a town that hosted a SB without a ticket I dont know that it would matter much where its at.

I meant out of state Viking fans would see the SB as a bucket list.  Seeing the Vikings in the new stadium in the SB.  Who wouldn't want a ticket?  In state viking fans would show up just for the party like often happens.

but will the tickets be available and if a percentage go to season ticket holders then they wont likely need hotel rooms for the week.. I dont know how it would go down for sure,  but I see the OPs point.  it could be more profitable for the vendors, hotels,  etc if there are more out of towners and that is likely to happen more if it is a couple of non local teams... maybe?

I receive a call or an email almost weekly offering Super Bowl tickets/packages. Yesterday, there was a voicemail from some guy and this morning I had an email from the Vikings ticket office supervisor. Starting price for a package with upper bowl seats was $6,300 per ticket up to field level seating for $14,500 per ticket. I can sit in the same seats I have for my season tickets for just $12,500 per seat. Food and entertainment is included, of course :astonished:

Nuts.

Forgot to add - Since the company I work for is a sponsor, we were offered the chance to enter a drawing to buy discounted tickets. I don't remember what the price was but it was crazy as well.

Probably like hotels in SD during the state tournaments. ... $89 hotel rooms going for nearly $600 per night.  That should be criminal.

Pretty much guarantees you won't see this guy there.  I would spend a few grand,  but not $6300 on up.  Not even if it was Vikes Vs Chiefs.

Same here. They also listed a "special value" package of a seat and a ticket to the Dave Matthews concert for $5.5k that's not in the brochure. And the Ticketmaster resale site has upper bowl starting around $4k per seat. That would be without any of the 'extras'.

Link to brochure of packages:

I plan to wait and see how it all shakes out. In previous years there have been some last minute tickets sold at reduced prices. I'd love to go, but I won't be going into debt to do so.
