That's right. So this might sound like a stupid question, but NFL roster rules confuse the hell out of me. Does the fact that he's under contract for 3 years have any bearing on the practice squad rule about clearing waivers? I suppose not, other than maybe making it less likely for him to want to leave?

It doesnt.

We initially signed him to our practice squad. When he was "called up," he actually signed a new 3 year deal.

If he were to be waived/cut, the 3 year deal would be terminated. ... then its waiver claims (which keeps his 3 year deal in tact i believe), then its choosing the best practice squad offer again.

I am not sure when we have had a Qb that is loved by the fanbase as much as Teddy.  Probably Fran was the last one.
