Switching gears a bit, I see Anthony Richardson is being shopped for a 'late round' pick....several teams interested, but yikes. He went from hero to zero in record time. It must be that's he's struggling mentally with offensive gameplans and reading a D.

Why are you so convicted about that? My gut says JJM is still very much in their future plans, especially if he shows growth.

Now thats worth less than a cup of coffee, but I just dont connect the dots to his time is coming to an end here?

Agree...I have no clue why so many are saying this means the end of JJ's time in Minnesota. I haven't heard anyone adequately explain why they think that.

For me, and its JMO, and I know a few like yourself don't agree: can you name a time that a QB started his first year...all of it....then the following season that team got another guy in for QB1....and then the next year after THAT, hey man we love you again! Back to QB1 brother! All for the same team. Its never happened. If you liked his potential that much, you'd be investing in his development right now.

If JJM is going to have success in the NFL, unfortunately its going to be with another team. UNLESS Kyler shits the bed or gets injured and JJ lights it up. My only caveat.

I agree its been a mind-boggling, un-orthodox journey to date...But yah, I dont reach the same conclusions you do.

We'll watch this play out and see where the chips fall.

I am a betting man at times. But I wouldn't ever throw my hard-earned $ at who's starting next year at QB for this franchise?

The only way JJ is not on this team in 2027 is if Kyler plays incredibly well (I think he will) AND the Vikings are willing to give him the $60M contract he'll have earned. Just don't think that's a foregone conclusion, especially if there are trouble spots for Murray along the way.

Sure, maybe this precise scenario has never happened before, but nor has it happened before that a QB has won 14 games two years in a row, or a QB on his 5th team has won a Super Bowl. I'm sure there are a dozen of these if I look hard enough.

Or, this would be a good scenario too

1) Murray balls out this year, fans have a blast
2) JJM shows real growth and plays well in his live opportunities in 26

In that case? The Vikings may very well be comfortable handing the reigns to JJ in 27

Couple of thoughts:
  1. Its an assumption that Murray was brought in to be QB1.  According to the Vikings, its a competition.
  2. The entire sample size of getting a starting caliber QB for basically free is like 4 guys.
  3. The entire sample size of teams quitting on their first round QB after half a season of starts is also like 4 guys.

I don't think there's much correlation between what the Vikings are doing with theoretically taking a free starting QB to replace a young inexperienced QB and historical examples where someone busted so hard the team fled to a different option almost immediately.

There is a lot of talk about only 10 games, but it has been two full years that they have had him in the building and have gotten to know him. I had gotten the feeling throughout last year during press conferences that KOC had a lot of built up frustration with JJM, for someone who is typically very glowing of his players, he was more critical and less complimentary than he usually is which seemed out of character. There even seems to be a level of disdain. I think the kid could definitely turn it all around and get himself back in favor and be the future QB here, but I do not think he has won over some people over in the building.
