I really thought they were on to something...

I wonder how much of this shit show is a result of moving to europe for 2 weeks and then the bye week vacation 2 games in 10 days, and now another mini vacation? this schedule has been a shit show for a team that was struggling anyway.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Not only has Flores been atrocious at game planning (there is none) and in game management, but I am sure he is the one behind a lot of the personnel moves such as signing Allen and Hargrave and not resigning Bynum, replacing him with Metullus and then shipping off Phillips.

I see the BFlo situation as positive.  He has been a great DC for us and we were worried about losing him the last 2 years.  Perhaps a bit of that shine is lost, but I think he is a good DC.  Seems like some of the new guys may have not bought in. Allen and Hargrave for starters.  Van Ginkel is so crucial to the team.  His injury has really hurt the D.  Smith slowing down/being sick has also been a huge issue.

That and the offense being abysmal, there is no lead, no attacking D because teams are just running on them with a lead.

No doubt.  I think these two Europe games and this short week Thursday game were brutal in terms of trying to fix the issues we’ve been going through.  Add on to that all the games where they have to shake up the OLine in the middle of the game.

I don't think you can overlook the fact that we let go of two of our better players who were captains and leaders of the defense in Cam Bynum and Harrison Phillips. Those were both players Flores leaned on.

I really have no issue with Phillips being traded, agree with you on Bynum tho.

I had issue with it at the time because I felt trading Phillips (who was our best run defending lineman and starting nose tackle) on the dawn of the season would make our smaller line even more susceptable against the run. What's happened? We are ranked 24th against the run and getting punched in the mouth regularly.

I didnt have an issue with it at the time, in hindsight though???

I think we got a couple things going on vs run that MB called out in another thread:

Phillips
IPJ

It's multifaceted but we simply lack beef up front. They all hover in that 285-300 pound range and they get pushed around. Especially when the offense can't generate first downs or are turning the ball over and leaving the defense on the field all game long. KOC doesn't even try to generate a running game to win some time of possession and undersized guys are going to get worn down like we have seen. Linebackers are small. Cashman can't stay on the field. It's a giant shit sandwich right now and I shutter to think what Gibbs and Montgomery do against us Sunday
