This is how I feel about it....

Not always a Greeny fan, but for me, he hits it on the head. I'll ride with whatever. I as a fan certainly don't know better, and I guarantee he does. I know this question is mostly 24/7 sports talk fodder, but if the hand is so hot that KOC is inclined to ride, do we care in the very short term? Nobody is giving up on JJ and Wentz will need to play very, very well for this to even be considered. Can Wentz carry the team a bit in crunch time? Can he be consistent? So much to be seen yet for this question, but like I said, its what carries the week of sports talk. Like Penix is fielding ridiculousness now on whether he's the guy and will Houston be drafting a QB next Spring, lol. The micro in sports media is always goofiness mostly.

ITs a decent take by Greenie...

I would be very surprised if Wentz can play above point guard...And that would be great for a QB2 btw.

I guess the $1mm question for myself is am I willing (as a fan) to put up with more probable losses this season with a rook QB than a vet like Wentz?

Long-term hoping the payoff happens in the next year or 2 with JJM?

The answer would be YES for me...

I'd love to somehow eek out two wins in Europe and turn it back over to McCarthy. I'm with you, I dont see Wentz going supernova hot but your point guard analogy is pretty good. Maybe JJ's return coincides with Donovan Jackson coming back. That will be the first time the starting unit on the O-line would be intact. I don't think the Steelers are world beaters, its a winnable game and Minnesota is favored.

I typically defer to the coaches and personnel that see the practices, know the players, and simply have exponentially more information about the Vikings than I can have.

Yes, I'll disagree with people (coughZimmercoughSpielman) on things, but I know that I CAN'T know as much as actual team personnel do.

Regarding the QBs, though...the biggest difference that I've seen was basic, veteran poise. JJM brings energy and anticipation to the role, but despite all the talk about his "different" mindset and everything, the whole offense looked calmer and on-mission with Wentz in there. This doesn't mean overall replacement unless Wentz has a couple of amazing games in the UK and/or McCarthy seems to struggle in mental/physical recovery.

The team gave Darnold a chance to step up from his backup status, and he had his best season en route to a solid time in Seattle. Cousins was in the MVP conversation prior to his injury in 2023. Dobbs (briefly) looked like a miraculous savior with marginal practice time. KOC and the Vikings are obviously very good for NFL QBs, and theoretically should be able to give JJM an amazing foundation for his career. The problem is that he can't gain veteran poise without reps, and he can't get reps without staying on the field and producing.

This is another whacko chapter for the team, and we'll all turn the pages together...!
It's officially SKOL SEASON!! LET THE PLUNDERING BEGIN!!

I would luv 2 wins, but I'll settle for .500 over there...It's a big toll on players, staff etc.

BTW, I would be pretty accepting of point guard from JJM year 1

I think unless Wentz just lights it up over the next two weeks, we have to go back to McCarthy after the bye, or at the latest, one week later against the Chargers. But I have a feeling it's going to be a controversial decision. The NFL, its fans, its media, sees only wins and losses and will largely be blind to the fact that Wentz is playing with a much healthier surround than McCarthy did the first two weeks.
