Kirko Chainz: "I'd have stayed in Minnesota if I knew they'd draft a QB that high"

For all the pissing, moaning, and grousing about his contracts, Washington basically taught him that he had to value himself, because even the team he was producing for wouldn't. He learned, he earned.

He won the moneyball part of the game, but seeing the grumbling towards him at 30-40 million when the Herberts, Allens, and similar go soaring towards 60 million...eh...at some point, people need to admit they're b*tching because they want to, not because the reasoning is solid. His last quarters for the team had him top 2 in QB yards/TDs, so it's whack to claim he wasn't living up to the investment.

If/when he gets past the "starting role/pay" mindset, he'd still be an amazing backup for JJM as a mentor and also as a proven, positive locker room presence. I don't know if that'll happen, but it'd be an ideal situation.

Well Kirk wasn't and isn't worth what the Herberts and Allens get, you know? And he won't be any kind of mentor, IMO he'll retire before he does anything like that. He'll be 37 years old next month. And if Atlanta still thought he had some real juice, there'd be a competition this year for the starting job. They didn't sign him for $180 million to sit behind Penix, but something in their mindset definitely changed toward the last half of last season. I liked Kirk's time here in Minnesota very much, I really did....but it was time for him to move on.

A small part of me does wonder, however, what he would be like behind this re-tooled offensive line.  The reality is that he never enjoyed the kind of protection that JJM will be inheriting, as they set the kid up for success.

Would he had, could he have taken us to the promised land with that kind of OL?  We'll never know, and I'm quite content with our QBOTF.

He would have been significantly better IMO,   but like I said for his tenure...his contractual demands made it very difficult to put a line like this in front of him.  Imo his short comings have been partially  a product of his own greed.   Likely could be said for many other QBs.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
