So how can the Vikings be a 2025 Superbowl type team?

I think the biggest misconception in football is that Super Bowl teams have flawless rosters with no weaknesses. Outside of the unproven QB, yes, the Vikings have a roster capable of winning the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, so do a handful of other teams.

the likelihood isnt very high,  but I agree,  I think when we get one its not going to be that team that is favored out of the gate due to winning the offseason with an already talented roster,  its going to be some young players making huge contributions,  some less than players providing more than expected, and a run of luck.  could easily be this year.

There’s probably 8-10 teams that can be considered Super Bowl “capable”. Meaning if what they are on paper actually makes it to the field.

In the NFC I’d say Philly, Washington, Detroit, Minnesota, Tampa, and LA are capable of putting together a run with good luck, good health, and they play up to expectations.

I the AFC it’s probably limited to KC, Buffalo, Baltimore and if you squint really hard Denver.

For conversations in late June, a Super Bowl contending Minnesota Vikings is not an eyebrow raising notion.

Outside of Philly, the toughest out in the NFC is the Rams. They had Philly on the ropes. Detroit is going to suffer historic levels of brain drain. Campbell will continues to be a more quotable Mike Tice. I think the final four in the NFC will be Philly, LA, Washington, and Minnesota. If JJ is White Jaden Daniels, we’re in the NFCCG, guaranteed.

While it’s certainly a long shot with a first time starting QB, I don’t think it’s that hard to imagine the Vikings a SB contender with competent QB play. The Vikings were just outside the top tier of teams and got better on both sides of the ball (ignoring QB). If KOC does his job, we’ll finally have a running game we can lean on with our new OLine, a true multiple offense for the first time in forever. We added two long time pass rushers at DE/DT, which will allow Flores to have more ability to scheme to the teams he’s playing. And JJM isn’t a true rookie. He’s had a year to absorb the NFL, understand it’s bigness, learn our playbooks, work on his mechanics, etc. I think, even if JJM has a rocky first year, we’re looking at .500 ball just because the talent around him is so high, unless we experience an abnormally large number of injuries.
