Count me as one who was unimpressed with the signing of Darnold at the time.  Just a placeholder, I thought, until JJM was ready.
KOC (and team) will get the most out of the QB room, period.

I think we all thought Darnold was just a placeholder...albeit one with a good amount of upside given his arm talent and pedigree. I think adding Howell to the QB room was a solid move, and no doubt KOC will get the most out of him, but he had much more to work with in Darnold.

I remember you being the most positive on Darnold and what KOC could do with him....turned out to be on point.

I think Howell has better arm talent than some on the board are giving him credit for. I like him at QB2.

In college, especially in the smaller conferences, offensive scheme can hide lots of flaws.  Boise is always creative, and offensive powerhouse.  But dink and dunk throws in that scheme don't make an NFL QB.  Obviously he has talent, he is on an NFL roster.  But not good enough to be a starter or even a competitive backup.
