What does everyone think of QB Cam Ward going #1?
#1
What a down year for QBs in this year's Draft. I'm not 100% convinced he'll go first, but knowing NFL GMs....he probably will. Anyone watch him play? I got to see him down here in Miami and its a mixed bag. He's physically built similar to Caleb Williams.....CW lite is the better term. Just physically I'm talking. He also likes hero ball, which will get you into trouble in the NFL. I think the odds are higher he'll bust than perform, which might be true for every #1 pick but more so for Ward.

Any of the 6 QBs taken last year would be the #1 pick this year and far and away better than anyone in this draft. I would not have a guy on my board who quit on his team in a bowl game. Heard all the excuses, but sorry if that was the plan for you to break the record and then come out of a bowl game where your team lost by 1 point then you are not a competitor or a team guy. Could you see someone like JJM or Nix even considering that? They would fight you to stay in the game and would not leave their teammates.

I think Dart ends up having a better career than both Ward and Sanders and would consider him if I needed a QB in this draft. Also, think Will Howard is being extremely undervalued in this draft and would be a guy I would consider in this draft as a developmental QB if I had a veteran QB currently.

Tennessee is getting a new stadium in a few years so they’ll need some star power to build hype to sell SLAs.

Does Cam Ward scream star power?

No.

Roll with Levis, draft Hunter, play him both ways to the tune of 80 snaps a game and find a better QB in 26 or 27.

Position regardless, I’d tab Ward around 35-40 prospect range. That might be generous.

Its not just a bad year for QB's, it's a down year for the #1 pick overall - especially after the foot issues with Carter.

He would have been my #1 pick, but now???

I might be tempted to trade the #1 to a team in love with one of the QB's and still be able to tap Hunter or Carter if the medicals are ok.

Ward is pretty elusive, but not as elusive as Caleb W. If you thought Sam held the ball too long, wait until you see Cam Ward. Still, I am a fan of his play - in college. No idea how he will do in the NFL, but he has played a lot of QB in college. That will help him in transitioning to the NFL. Still, I assume he will struggle to start the year, like all/most other rookie QBs. He also faces the same problem any other QB faces when drafted 1st overall - he is going to a pretty bad team.
