Darnold has tools..HOWEVER...KOC provided Darnold with the culture, weapons and plays to succeed. Sam is not finding those things with the teams looking at him. Ride with JJ
Limited market for Darnold?

Skor North guys said today that Darnold and his agent aren't wanting to help the team with a tag/trade scenario, which imo has always been the only way it can happen.
I think he will get somewhere in the upper 30's from some team. He won't be in purple.

I think there is too much made of his last two games against championship quality opponents. What he did before those two games was extraordinary. Yes he sucked in the last two games, but so did his protection. There is not a single hall of fame QB who didn't suck when they didn't have adequate protection.
How many QB's were better than him last year? He is a slow processor and took a lot of sacks, but when he slung the ball downfield he was better than any QB the Vikings have had for a long time. Some team will take a chance on him. But he will fail unless they have good pass protection. They will say he was good because of KOC! But if he goes to a team that has pass protection, look out, he will be dangerous. I agree with the necessity of moving on to JJM in order to build the foundation of a championship team around him, but JJM isn't going to give you what Darnold gave the Vikings last year. Given the number of weaknesses preventing this team from being contenders, and financial constraints of a QB contract, moving forward with JJM is the only path forward that makes sense.

I think Darnold's agent was open to a tag/trade... that starts the guaranteed money at 40 million in the first year if they are negotiating with other teams on a contract/trade scenario. With the rumor the Vikings aren't likely to tag Darnold, I'm guessing his agent found out from teams they aren't looking at guaranteeing that much up front, plus adding other guarantees on a multi-year deal. Would have been nice for it to work out, but lots of moving parts to consider. Plus if we tagged Darnold, he's likely the starter in 2025. And even if we traded him, that likely nixes Daniel Jones signing a 1-2 year deal here to compete with JJ McCarthy. No way the Vikings are signing Daniel Jones (or another veteran, tagging Darnold, and keeping JJ McCarthy. Too much money and potential starters to pay when the Vikings want to get JJ on the field sooner rather than later.

The Vikings will already receive what, a 3rd if he just walks and signs elsewhere anyway right? The stories a week ago were the market will be robust for Sam.....now its 'limited'....tomorrow back to robust? Guess it depends which way the wind is blowing. Regardless, lets sign Danny Dimes to pair up with McCarthy and rock and roll.

I have a feeling some fans are going to be disappointed with our final QB room as I see neither QB resigning here. I dont think we get as much of a comp pick from either leaving either as we will be making our own free agent acquisitions to somewhat offset their losses.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?
