He should tell them that because the Raven are installing a new offense and because he will not be there for much of the installation, the offense will be a work in progress and people should not expect much in the first year. He should also say that he will be happy to sign a second franchise tender next year under the same terms. In other words, the Ravens are getting Lamar as their QB, but not the Lamar that they are used to. If he signs a one year deal on a franchise deal what would a Lamar be worth after that being a drop back passer and 100 yard rusher? Is he even a top tier quarterback as a drop back passer and 100 yard rusher? Could be Lamar's high dollar contract days may be nearing an end based on his playing style and potential for injury the older he gets. So far nobody has stepped up with a guaranteed contract so maybe that day is fast approaching.
