all that really needs to be known is he is happy for now,  and the money was not magical,  despite it looking good that he is happy for now and his cap hit goes down it will hit at some point so its just a matter of borrowing from future caps which is just once again kicking the can down the road.

yes the cap will take a big jump in the coming years,  but so will overall contract demands so this is not really going to ease any future situations,  but it does buy us another season to evaluate his overall health and keeps him placated... and that is worth something in itself.
