I think they are trying to sign all of their "veteran leaders" now so that it will be easier when the young guys contracts come up in 2 or 3 years.
Barr, Kendricks, Hunter, and hopefully Waynes are all going to get paid

Bradford's contract status has been pretty well hashed. See the Teddy gets tolled articles in the Strib every couple of weeks.

Not sure Barr or the Vikings are ready to extend. His value is low right now, he would probably bet on himself having a better year. And injuries have hampered him, so the Vikings might be wary.
I agree that's it's probably Linval but he has 2 years of guaranteed money remaining. 2017&18. His cap hit stays basically unchanged and manageable, at roughly 6.5 million per. I'm just not sure it makes a ton of sense to pursue that extension 2 years from the finish line of his current deal.
My reasons for throwing Barr's name into the mix is because of that 5th year option at 12 million plus. What if we extend him now and cut that 12 million dollar deal down a ways for next year? The 5th year option isn't guaranteed money for Barr in 2018, unless he gets injured, aka the Floyd Clause. So maybe we extend him now, guarantee him money and lower our cap hit at the same time?

I don't know S about front office, cap space, etc. but it seems like the Vikes do a pretty good job of keeping the guys they want without sacrificing the future.
One man that works behind the scenes and doesn't get the credit he deserves - Brez
It's been an easy job for him, hopefully these Vikings make his job hard.

Great news regarding Griffen. Get X done, then it's on to Barr and Joseph. Brez is amazing at his job.

The #Vikings deal for Everson Griffen is a 4-year extension worth a whopping $58M, source said. $34M in guarantees. $14.5M new money avg.

You make good points regarding the cap and money. Just not sure the Vikings are ready to commit and Barr would be selling low at this point.
