Or better yet, if he's been as successful as some have made out to be, why wasn't he extended first? That should be a slam dunk, right? GM contracts are relatively easy in contrast to coaches or players. I think the logical answer is there's been enough bad to make ownership pause and just like most of us, would like to see a little more. I'll wait until we win a playoff game before jumping on Kwesi's bandwagon RE: KAM....just take the deal, dude.... - JustInTime - 03-31-2025 (03-31-2025, 04:22 PM)MAD GAINZ Wrote: So then why is someone a Kwesi hater if we all agree that KOC was the main decision maker behind the JJM pick? I named the guys I’d take over Kwesi. Who would you add? Did I miss someone? I’ve got him about the top 15-20%, is that unrealistic? I think this is a huge part of it for some people. The way KAM approaches things is uncomfortable for some. He is not from some football lineage. He thinks differently and has his methods that can be off-putting. He is not traditional at all and I think it's good. He is killing it in free agency. We obviously know that was a bad draft previously but then you learn from it and move on. Clearing up the roster and freeing up money got them to the point where they could spend big this free agency. We know that they have to hit on the qb but the majority of moves are getting better. We'll see how this draft shakes out. RE: KAM....just take the deal, dude.... - MAD GAINZ - 03-31-2025 (03-31-2025, 04:53 PM)JustInTime Wrote: I named the guys I’d take over Kwesi. Who would you add? DeCosta and Beane have done a great job building around their QBs even after they had to pay them. Les Snead and John Lynch have built some tremendous football teams that have been to multiple Super Bowls. John Schneider and Gutnekunst have good track records. I'd take all those guys ahead of Kwesi. Then you have guys like Licht in TB who has built playoff teams after Brady left and kept a good core together with a resurgent Baker Mayfield. Nick Caserio found a QB in Houston and has what looks to be a perennial playoff team down there with Stroud. I think it's still to early to rank Poles, Kwesi, Peters and some of these newer GMs ahead of these guys IMO. It shouldn’t be some grand revelation that functional organizations are run by bosses who listen to the team he’s assembled. The scouting staff, the coaching staff, the medical staff. They all have input. On draft picks and free agents. That’s how it’s supposed to work. Doesn’t always tho. Sometimes teams are run by GMs who make decisions unilaterally. Who do you give credit for the Jalen Hurts pick? Howie Roseman or Doug Pederson? Roseman made the final decision, but Pederson was heavily involved in the scouting. That's how it works. How about Jalen Reagor? I've heard that there may have been something specifically different about that one. A difference of opinion among coaches and scouting I hear? But again, Howie made the pick. You can't just say "oh his staff fucked up on that one." My point is that teams are going to have good picks and bad picks. But the GM is the one in charge so he is the one who ultimately is accountable for all of them. If JJ fails, do you honestly think people will blame KOC? I didn't think so. In either case, I’m going to start blaming Donatell for Lewis Cine. :-) RE: KAM....just take the deal, dude.... - JustInTime - 03-31-2025 (03-31-2025, 06:14 PM)MAD GAINZ Wrote: I'd say Roseman and Veach are #1/2. That does put him top third to top half easily. Certainly not angst worthy. Until then, he's got a few things on his plate. Until then, he's got a few things on his plate. Maybe, but it's just weird to not extend your GM and head coach at the same time. Last April the Chiefs extended both Reid and Veach. Last March the Lions extended the kneecapper and Brad Holmes. Why would the Wilfs not extend Kwesi the same time as KOC if there wasn't a good reason? Spielman and Zimmer were given extensions within a week of each other in 2020, so it's not like this is the Wilfs standard operating procedure |
