If he gets the surgery, he's out for the year. Dolphins will probably bring in a backup, but they've made Matt Moore the highest paid backup in the league for a reason. South Florida is holding its breath, Ryan Tannehill injured - Guest - 08-04-2017 Jay Cutler - QB - Free AgentThe Miami Herald reports the Dolphins and coach Adam Gase "personally" have reached out to "retired" QB Jay Cutler since Ryan Tannehill suffered a potentially year-ending knee injury. In 2015 as the Bears' offensive coordinator, Gase managed and manipulated Cutler in the same way he did with Tannehill last season. In arguably one of the best years of his career, Cutler threw 25 touchdown passes to only 11 interceptions under Gase, and Gase parlayed their success into the Dolphins' head-coaching job the very next year. ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported Thursday that Cutler would indeed be willing to come out of retirement to reunite with Gase, and an "industry source" told the Miami Herald the same thing. Cutler currently has a broadcasting job with FOX. Per RapSheet, Cutler is Miami's "top choice" if Ryan Tannehill (knee) is ruled out for the season. Cutler reportedly told Adam Gase he's willing to come out of retirement to play for Miami.
