  Eagles Are Paper Tigers

Yes, the Eagles are good. But how good?
They’re a league-best 10-1 with a nine-game winning streak. But they’re 1-1 against teams that have a winning record heading into Week 13. Their signature victory is a 28-23 win at Carolina, which has lost two of five home games.
The other top six teams in the NFC and their records against teams with a winning record are: Vikings (4-2), Panthers (4-2), Saints (3-3), Rams (2-2) and Falcons (2-3).
The good news is we won’t have to wait long for the Eagles to face some sterner tests. They’ll travel to Seattle on Sunday, stay on the West Coast for the week and play the Rams in Los Angeles the following week.
If the Eagles return home at 12-1, look out. They’ll be expected to become the seventh 15-1 team in NFL history as they finish up with games at the Giants and home against the Raiders and Cowboys.

Vikings to Raise Awareness Through 'My Cause, My Cleats' This Sunday

Vikings to Raise Awareness Through 'My Cause, My Cleats' Creativity

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – The Vikings will be fighting for worthy causes while fighting for a win over the Falcons.

More than 20 Vikings players on Wednesday unveiled custom-designed cleats they will don when suiting up for Sunday’s game at Atlanta. The cleats are painted to represent respective causes of the players’ choice and are part of the NFL’s “My Clause, My Cleats” initiative.

Among the causes represented are some players’ personal foundations or charities, including Anthony Barr’s Raise the Barr Foundation, which supports single mothers, and Brian Robison’s Reel ’Em In Foundation, which raises funds for K9s4Cops and security in schools.

Falcons’ pass rush will test Case Keenum’s pocket presence
Posted by: purplefaithful - 11-30-2017, 04:10 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (9)

Case Keenum’s performance against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving may have been his best of the year when you consider that he was routinely under duress.
According to Pro Football Focus, Keenum was pressured on 51.4 percent of his dropbacks (18 of 35), but completed 7-of-13 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown.
Keenum is gaining a reputation as having a strong pocket presence. He’s only been sacked seven times this season and has made a number of plays after dodging pressure. But like everything else with the former Texan and Ram, it’s fair to wonder if it will last considering he was one of the NFL’s lowest rated passers under pressure last season.
Atlanta’s defense is among the best in the NFL against the pass in large part because of their pass rush. The Falcons are allowing 6.4 yards per attempt, which ranks only behind Jacksonville and Philadelphia, and have sacked opposing quarterbacks 30 times (ninth in the NFL).

Mark Walton - RB - Hurricanes
Miami junior RB Mark Walton will declare for the 2018 NFL Draft.

According to Inside the League's Neil Stratton, Walton has signed with agent Zac Hiller, ending his collegiate eligibility. Walton (5'9/205) will be an interesting evaluation for NFL scouts. The talent is obviously there -- he rushed for 428 yards on 7.6 YPC in four games this season before going down and dropped 1,117 yards and 14 scores on 5.3 YPC last year -- but Walton faces durability questions. He was shut down in early October due to an ankle injury. Last Month, NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah wrote that Walton has "outstanding vision, instincts and balance" and is "ultra quick in short areas" in addition to being a "capable receiver out of the backfield." Right now, we'd peg him as a late-Day 2 or early-Day 3 value. That could change for the better or worse depending on his medicals and how he tests out in Indy at the NFL Combine.

The 10 best seasons by backup quarterbacks in Vikings history

As an organization, the Vikings are known for fearsome defenses and losing four Super Bowls.
A sneaky thing that is also part of their organizational lore: Seasons saved by backup quarterbacks.

Here is a ranking of the best performances by backup quarterbacks in Vikings history, going from 10 down to 1:

#2) Case Keenum, 2017: The Vikings are taking their QB situation week-to-week, but for seven weeks in a row that’s mean wins with Keenum leading the way. Regardless of whether he gets to finish the year out or if Teddy Bridgewater takes over at some point, Keenum has saved this season and then some.

Beat them on the road so we can beat them at home
Posted by: greediron - 11-29-2017, 09:00 PM - Forum: The Longship - No Replies

I suppose the NFL is wetting itself over the NFC schedule down the stretch.  6 NFC teams with 7 or more wins play each other this weekend.  And then it continues next week.

Looking at who we face, we have to beat Carolina and Atlanta on the road so we can possibly face them at home in the playoffs.  (yes, I am looking ahead, as a fan, I can do that without losing focus on Sunday.)  We beat Detroit on the road, and both NO and the Rams at home.

So every NFC team they have faced outside of their division except for Tampa are playoff contenders.  As well as the Steelers and Ravens in the AFC.  I remember back a month or so ago hearing caution that we hadn't beaten anyone of note at that point.  Can't say that now, and the next 2 games are huge as well.  If we can win those 2, we are sitting pretty.  Even if we split, we still look pretty damn good IMO.

If we look back on this year, no one will be able to say our road was easy.  And with the exception of Philly, it is likely we will face a team in the playoffs that we have beaten in the regular season.
