I don't know this guy from Adam but saw this....

Mike Klis

Per sources, it was very clear in Vikings' interview with Gary Kubiak for their offensive coordinator job that OL coach Rick Dennison, TE coach Brian Pariani and QB coach Klint Kubiak were part of his package deal. #9sports

uhm... I thought we had that whole OC thing squared away?  CO-OC/HC/ACDC?
Why isnt Chuck Foreman in the hall of fame?

on a side note.... wasnt kubiak the HC in denver when their OL was shit but they had great weapons and a pretty good QB?  are we looking to try and figure out how to win without improving the OL?

Kubiak isn't being interviewed for the OC spot, but some kind of offensive type specialist. I wouldn't doubt the rest of the report, however. It all depends if the Vikings are willing to do it or not.

am I wrong or wasnt Denvers OL a POS under Kubiak?

Not keen on "package deals" of which Kubiacs son is one.  Granted, I don't know these guys from Joe Mama, but it seems like the beginning of a coup, and guys who come in with all sorts of demands kinda piss me off...

Agreed.  Get hired on your merits.  Maybe this is just a bad taste left over from Norv and his boy?

What? No. Kubiak is known for his OLs, particularly his effective zone blocking schemes. I say give him what he wants. Vikings don't currently have a QB coach, nor have they done anything about OL coach.

So have a young OC who could use a veteran presence and we have no OL, TE, and QB coach?  this rumor seems to make sense, Kubiak comes in and brings in his staff, someone Zim can trust, while allowing Stefanski to grow into the position.  Kubiak saves some of the stress and heartache of the demands of the OC.

This all makes sense, as does us going to a zone blocking scheme.  Could be a very interesting get, I have always loved Kubiak’s offenses, playaction roll outs and deep shots

Vikings hiring former Broncos’ HC Gary Kubiak in an offensive advisory role, per a league source. Kubiak’s son, Klint, is expected to become Vikings’ QB coach and Kevin Stefanski will remain as Vikings’ O

and Klint Kubiak has worked for the Vikes, circa 2013-14.

I tend to blame that on old Horseface himself.

This is now a done deal: Gary Kubiak is joining the #Vikings staff. Exact title TBD, but to reiterate, Kevin Stefanski is the OC. Stefanski knows Gary and is very tight with Kubiak’s son, Klint, who’s expected to return as QBs coach. A great match for everyone.

Wonder if he'll get an Assistant HC title to go along with some sort of Offense adviser role.

Not sure I get the Kubiak hate, seemed pretty solid to me as a coach. Stefanski and his son, Klint, are good buddies.

It certainly is interesting.  Zim likely wants to not blindly trust another young offensive mind struggle and ruin a season.  Hopefully it works out.

Wow, this could be bigfor Dalvin Cook. Kubiak is an outside zone specialist. Cook is an outside zone specialist. Remember all those backs Denver had several years ago?Didn't seem to matter which "no name" they put in, he got over 1,000 yards. Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Reuben Droughns. Goes to Houston and someone named Arian Foster explodes. Goes to Baltimore and Justin Forsett explodes. Hadn't done anything before, nor since.

I think Kubiak is a good addition - especially considering we seemed to be staring into the abyss of Hue Jackson barely a week ago.

Zimmer seems to need a former HC on the staff, maybe a peer who keeps him from overreacting.

So are Dennison (OL coach) and Pariani (TE coach) also coming aboard?

Why hate?  Most are curious at the least or encouraged.  I was remembering of manning getting his ass kicked pretty regular but I don't watch a lot of donkey ball.

I wonder how Stephanski feels about Kubiac.  Hopefully he's onboard, and all is good.  It will be interesing to see how the roles play out, and see who's calling plays on Sundays.

Well, it did occur to me that this feels a little bit like Shurmur being the "Special Offensive Coach" in 2016 with Turner still OC and it seemed like Norv thought Pat was looking over his shoulder...

Yeah, me too.  Hopefully that's not the case.  Maybe Stephanski looks at this a another great resource to learn from.  I like the hire.  Kubiac seems to be exactly the kind of coach Zim was looking for to truly run the offense.

O-Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator?
    http://www.startribune.com/super-bowl-winner-gary-kubiak-joins-mike-zimmer-s-vikings-staff/504340972/

    Here's a snippet:
The Vikings also will likely have new veteran leadership in the offensive line and tight end meeting rooms. Brian Pariani has been hired to coach tight ends and Rick Dennison is being targeted to coach the offensive line, according to a league source. Both Dennison, 60, and Pariani, 53, have worked with Gary Kubiak at multiple stops.

    and...

The moves leave unclear futures for assistants Clancy Barone and Todd Downing, who coached the Vikings offensive line and tight ends last season. Barone was Kubiak's offensive line coach in Denver from 2015-16. Downing was hired by the Vikings as a senior offensive assistant a year ago under former coordinator John DeFilippo.

I am thinking it might be sort of a mentor and collaborative approach. Both have strengths and weaknesses and maybe that can be helpful if they openly acknowledge them and perhaps balance each other out. I think having the connection of Kubiak's son is interesting as well. Stefanski has a great opportunity to learn and grow with a team he is very familiar with. And Kubiak brings fresh eyes and perspective as well as a wealth of knowledge and experience. I think this could be a very good thing. And no doubt is much better than where the speculation began.

This is pretty much what I said to my oldest..."He's taken less talented backs and squeezed 1,200 yards out of them"...Cook might explode...

Yeah, I think he will be special offensive coach and offensive coordinator undermine specialist, just like Shurmur and Norv! But I sure hope not.

Keep in mind - there's no salary cap for coaches.  Consistent success in the cap era means finding the best talent and making the most of the talent you have. If they can all work together this will be a big boost.

Jesus there are some paranoid Andriods around here lately.

Maybe, just maybe, Stefanski almost getting hired by the Browns got Rick & Mike thinking they need an in-house successor if Kevin does a good or great job next season.

And maybe that successor is actually, I don't know, a friend of Kevins.

Or maybe it was Stefanski who made the recommendation to hook up his friend and his friend's old man?

Lots of things we don't know. One thing I personally know? Vikings fans go straight to the Dark Side almost religously. Must be in the water.

I think this is a great hire and should help improve the offense.  Now just get more talent to go with it.
