Vikings at Lions Week 1961 - The first time Minnesota ever played the Detroit Lions. Detroit came in 8-3-1 against the 1st year Viking squad. The game was close, but how many of you remember the DET QB Jim Ninowski? pic.twitter.com/t3GxX5Y3Sl

Vikings at Lions Week 1968 - You think he 2026 Viking offense is dull? Here is the 1968 squad - Joe Kapp throws just 10 times (completes 6, but 3 to the other team!). But the famed Purple People Eater defense holds DET to 131 yds and 6 points in the win. pic.twitter.com/udh7XhAk3X

Vikings at Lions Week 1969 - The first Viking Super Bowl Team handles the Lions easily in Detroit with a 27-0 shutout in the snow and mud of Tiger Stadium on Thanksgiving Day. Neither team have over 175 yards of offense. But see the Jim Marshall pick & the Alan Page TD. pic.twitter.com/W5KVkInUo4

The Vikings are at 6 wins to open the season. The most any Viking team has ever achieved was winning their first 10 games in 1975. In that season, they lost 31-30 in WASH, when Fred Cox had a potential game winning FG of 54 yards blocked pic.twitter.com/9Xy7F8OlKF

Vikings at Lions Week - 1971: Opening Monday Night and the Vikings mirror the 2026 squad, with almost no offense, but a suffocating defense. Vikes win 16-13. pic.twitter.com/PyYqSJnm0l

Vikings at Lions Week - 1972: The Viking defense is again king, as they give up just 213 yards of offense and create 5 turnovers. Fran Tarkenton throws just 15 times in the game, but two were for TDs. Vikes in an easy one, 34-10. pic.twitter.com/3hXXpyzOXV

Vikings at Lions Week - 1976: Minnesota musters just 168 total yards (47 passing for Tarkenton), but the defense wins the turnover battle vs the Lions 2-0, and the Vikings Nate Allen blocks the PAT that would have tied it. pic.twitter.com/EyTCtcqIhQ

The Eden Prairie, MN product is the key communicator on the NFLโs best defense. Heโs also an elite open field tackler, run fitter, hook zone defender, & pass rusher.
I get that heโs 30 - & I donโt care. Heโs that important to what we do! pic.twitter.com/IzowD0HuGV

โThis Vikings defense is on pace to rank fourth since 2000 in EPA per play behind the 2000 Super Bowl-winning Ravens, the 2002 Super Bowl-winning Buccaneers and the 2019 Patriots.โ
