Gotta give dougpaschal credit on finding this one...enjoy.

Before the season I mentioned that not enough people were talking about the Packers' offensive line issues. I don't know how anyone could look at that OL depth chart and think this is a division winner, as many did. That said, I did not expect to see them get blown out in their home opener...to the Falcons who were blown out by the Panthers. Packers ran the ball 9 times for 17 yards. Unforgivable.

So what do we take from all this? The Packers are clearly terrible, maybe the Panthers are better than everyone thinks, and maybe our 29-0 run on the yellow team week one isn't as impressive as it once was.

Also, isn't it funny how the running game is all the rage now? If we're going to play that game—and it sounds like we want to—we've got to have better depth at RB. Surprises me that in 2025's terrific RB class, we looked at our aging and injury prone backs and said "nah, we're good." And did pretty much the same thing in 2026, waiting until the 6th round to take a back. I like Claiborne more than most, but you really shouldn't expect to pull starters from the 6th round.

Bypassing in 2025 was all Kwesi. He was terrible at reading the strengths of the draft. Look at 2025 as a classic example... it was deep at RB and DT. What did we do? Traded a 5th for Mason (good value), but then we completely bypassed the entire class and there were not only some good prospects drafted early, but also some good prospects all the way into Day 3. He also signed Allen and Hargrave and said fuck it on drafting an IDL. I can see signing one of Allen or Hargrave, but why both? Would have been better to fortify the DL with a veteran and a draft pick so our cap doesn't get crazy. If he'd have done that to free up a pick for a RB, then sure. But we're in this situation because of past draft decisions.

Hopefully we've learned. I think Teasely is smart and saavy enough to take a look at this roster and how we've been winning and figure out how to continue elevating the team. I think RB will be a priority in 2027. We have no one under contract besides Demond Claiborne next year. If we don't sign a FA (or re-sign Mason) and also draft a good prospect, I'll be shocked.

Their attention (rightly so) is probably first to see what happens at QB, is this a team that can make a run THIS SEASON?

That's why I'm wondering what the conversations are right now in the Vikings building... do we think getting Mason back after the bye and hoping Aaron Jones stays healthy with an elevated workload is the right plan? Or do we swing big and go get Achane right now? Be hard to argue that getting him would be the most impactful return to make us a true contender.

Oh, and the Packers OL is not good. They haven't done enough to replace the guys they've lost since Jordan Love took over as a starter. Biggest reason for their downfall IMO.
