Titans' field turf reached 157° during Sunday's game against the Eagles.
During a game against the Eagles on a sunny Sunday that saw temperatures as high as 95 degrees Fahrenheit, Titans players were resorting to hosing down the bottom of their cleats with water to cool down their feet on the turf.
Fox 29 Philly's Jeff Skversky reported it was 157 degrees on the turf, which forced teams to take extreme measures.
It has proved to be a new adjustment for the Titans and their opponents, as Tennessee safety Amani Booker said his cleats "melted completely off" during their season opener against the Jets, per The Athletic.
The moment that was captured on the broadcast took a life of its own on social media.
Eagles head coach Nick Siriani needed an IV and Eagles players were forced to change their cleats.
That's according to Eagles left guard Cam Jurgens, who told reporters after Philadelphia's 24-20 road win over the Tennessee Titans that the extreme heat of the artificial turf at Nissan Stadium damaged two pairs of his cleats.
Sirianni, of course, wasn't wearing cleats. But it was so hot that he said he needed an IV even though he wasn't playing.
'That turf was just radiating'
"I went through a couple today," Jurgens told reporters. "Halftime was like a NASCAR pit crew helping me get ready for the second half.
"That turf was just radiating. That was our first turf game of the year. It's different when the sun hits it. It just radiates that heat. Feet were burning, still hurting."
