Zoinks, maybe this one is for the Mystery Machine.
So, McCarthy hurts his ankle in preseason game 2. Had it been a regular season game he could have gone back in. Ok, annoying but no biggie.
Next preseason game its announced, almost simultaneously, that he’s both starting/not playing preseason game 3. He doesn’t play and afterwards we hear his ankle has been declared a “week to week” situation. Hmmm.
Fast forward to cutdown day and we have 4 QBs on the roster. Did they really think they couldn’t sneak Brosmer onto the practice squad? Really? Or was there another move that didn’t materialize?
Now, as of yesterday, Teasley said McCarthy has been a full go the first two days of practice. Hmmmm. Musta rubbed some dirt on that ankle.
The math ain’t mathing to me. My guess is McCarthy was quietly shopped and we didn’t get our asking price. Or maybe it’s just my poor attempt at connecting dots on a series of statements that just don’t add up.

This is what I think was happening JIT. No one was willing to meet their asking price so his ankle is miraculously fine and he's practicing.
Its impossible to know, it really is. It could be anything you are saying or nothing like it. Who knows?
I'm fine with that behind me now and am enjoying doing a deeper dive into Murray the last 4 or 5 days. I'd love to see some in-depth article just before the season starts, maybe like in this Sunday's Strib where they break down the team, etc. before Game 1, that profiles K1. See what's on his mind and what he's focusing on.
It just all seems really odd. There’s always going to be a lack of transparency on issues like injuries, but this seems like there’s maybe a lack of communication within the building.
I just don’t get it.

Who knows why the delay. There's certainly a lot of fluidity in the developmental QBs for some teams on final cutdown day. Miami was down to only 1 QB on their roster. They likely didn't want to spend a lot of time on a new developmental QB when you have a QB new to the system and JJM who needs development of his own. It's time they don't have. With all the injuries, KOC has spent a lot of time bringing QBs up to speed often while getting another backup ready to play.
So..why expose Brosmer to another team shopping for a developmental guy if you don't have to? It's time they don't have. They knew they were bringing in some OL and likely were shopping for an Edge as well. You waive Brosmer when you have to and with rosters settled...he breezes through.
