RB discussion, will Mason be the bell cow
Does this look accurate? I expect a bit more from Mason. Jones took a big paycut to stay, I am just not expecting much out of him other than change of pace, swing out wide pass catcher type. More of a player coach than a big contributor.
Mason looks primed for a big year IMO. Showed up a bit slimmer, looked more dynamic in scrimmage and games.
as an aside, my son did his fantasy draft last night and Mason was still available in the 9th round. He picked him on my advice. Guess some people just see the split backfield, but I saw a starting caliber RB available late in the draft.
Seems about right. I think Jones and Mason will pretty much split the carries and Clairborne only sees snaps when someone is injured. I’d imagine that Jones is injured more than Mason just due to age.
Every time I write off Jones, he comes back and impresses me. I think the above breakdown is accurate only if Jones stays healthy, but that rarely happens.
I saw Mason for $1 in my auction league, which is ridiculous value. For a RB3 or 4, you could do a lot worse. There's also the fact that he lost weight and is said to be quicker this year. Add to that the Vikings rumored commitment to the run, a healthy offensive line, and there's a REAL nice degree of upside with him.
