The teams must reduce their active rosters by Sunday, Aug. 30th @ 5:00 PM (CT).

What are your thoughts/hopes on possible trades, cuts/releases, etc. prior to Sunday?

I do not get the one projection of 4 CBs and 6 safeties, I would think it would be reversed with more way more reps needed for CBs. I think that is what we did last year, which makes no sense especially considering our safety group is not that great.

Yeah the 4 CBs was way off IMO. Trying to be bold and generate clicks.

Jay Ward saw a lot of playing time in the slot last season. There’s no reason why he won’t play there again this season if needed.

The Saints are trading veteran linebacker Deion Jones to the 49ers in exchange for running back Zamir White, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

I mean we had 4 CBs last year, no?

I would also think it sounds a little crazy, but Flores is a little crazy.  I think you just have to reframe it as us having a nickel safety, whereas other teams have a nickel corner.  So if each position has one backup, that’s 4 CB’s and 6 S’s.  I think it would make more sense as 5 CB’s and 5 S’s, just in case of injuries.

Like this snippet and comparison, although Max is about 10+lbs heavier.

  • Teammates rave about his (Bredeson) aptitude. Learning O’Connell’s complex offense is one thing, but occupying a role that asks him to motion all over the formation is another. The way the Miami Dolphins deployed Alec Ingold is a perfect comparison for his projected usage.

Its very similar to most other recent roster projections.....pretty damn close to cut and dried, really.

You do realize, don't you, that Seifert's projected 53 man roster represents 10 rookies making the team?

If that comes to pass, when is the last time we have had such a large contingent of rooks making the squad? It seems to speak of one of the best top-to-bottom drafts we've had in recent memory. Thanks Brez.

Please God, just one Lombardi before I die.

It's also an indictment of recent bad drafts. It's nice to see a draft that shows potential. Now we will see how well it pays off. I'm not going to get out over the tips of my skis and refer to Orange and Banks as the Williams wall, but it is easy to be enamored over the potential this draft class is showing. I think Bredeson is a safe bet at being a solid contributor and a great value as a 5th round pick, and Golday is likely to get in the rotation from day one. Still to be determined whether Claiborne, Demmings, or the Jacobs are going to be preseason fools gold or solid picks, but they all show promise.

Brez did a great job. Now it's up to the coaches.

Pretty solid post right here. ^

I think most of us are ready to see it before buying in completely, in several areas.

Right now - there is a lot of high upside picks which is what this team needed. Yes Demmings has not shown up in the preseason games but I still like his potential. He is likely a tad too aggressive right now. Banks is physical beast for a DT but needs some refinement and conditioning. Golday looks like the swiss army knife of Flores defense. Orange moves really well for a big man. Add in Bredeson and Claiborne. You have upside with ever pick - other than the Tackle who I feel like we got sniped on - but Dunker hasn't exactly shown out with the Steelers either.

out of the top rounds, I expected the least from Golday...Just due to the complexity of what's asked in a BFlo scheme from the LB/Edges.

The fact he is getting talk (and playing time) this early on is a great sign. Backfilling AVG one day is not an easy ask of anyone and I think Golday is the guy they hope can do it.

Others have called it out and I agree: Chuck D. needs to learn to tackle better to get more field time outside of ST's. That along with the art of using your hands in the NFL. Eloquent speaker, spiritual and a work in progress with upside. I suspect he is on a similar development path as a Banks - could take a season or so...
