If JJ goes 14 for 14 for 200 yards and two touchdowns, the X fan boys will say he should be QB1. If he goes 4 for 17 for 34 yards, they’ll say ship him to the chipotle in Eagan. There’s no in-between! 😂

The 23-year-old will have a massive opportunity to prove his value on Saturday, both as a backup in 2026 and a potential answer for the future. Another inconsistent day could open the door for current QB3 Carson Wentz to make his case for the backup spot if he continues to look like the more stable option. A strong performance could also intrigue QB-needy teams if McCarthy and the Vikings decided to pursue a trade.
While some may think the preseason has low stakes, this couldn’t be further from the case for McCarthy on Saturday.

Count me in for being a big believer that preseason is shit football and little is to be gleaned, good or bad. I'll say the same thing if JJM has a 'great' outing today. Now do I like seeing Viking's players make plays during the preseason? Of course. I just personally don't put any stock into it. Injury free will be a great victory today.

Agree this is a big game for JJ. Between this week and next week, he can put the QB3 talk to bed. At some point this season, QB2 is likely going to see some playing time for the Vikings. If there's any chance at all of him remaining in MInnesota, he has to be that guy.

Yah, not dressing on games days would be pretty damning...I hope we are not anywhere near sniffing that scenario.
